Each video story can be introduced and discussed in youth groups to deepen understanding of the issues and possible paths forward.
They are produced by veteran filmmaker John Bowey and climate and ecosystem scientist and teacher, Prof. Phoebe Barnard, with contributions from young filmmakers and content producers from the US, Canada, UK, Philippines, South Africa, Rwanda, Portugal, Germany, and Switzerland.
The program has 13 half-hour sessions, taking the audience on a journey of curiosity, strategy, possibility, and problem-solving. The sessions start from the basics of why a stable climate actually matters, to possible actions that can change humanity's road into the future.
The issues are global - but all have local relevance. They encourage direct engagement with local meaningful projects which help stabilize the climate, the planet, and communities.
Youth will be encouraged to participate beyond each session and share questions, thoughts and media, using a linked forum.
Each session / presentation includes:
-
Brief introduction - climate repair & restoration and the purpose of the series
-
Discussion - how knowledge, inspiring stories and role models can empower us to take back our agency to care for the climate
-
Introduction to the specific subject
Each session is free-standing, but with an internal series progression.

Exploring local context / relevance
The platform is aimed at youth, from early to late teens, but can engage curious students and others on either side of that age range.
For each session, an educator starts by provoking discussions of the concepts of climate restoration and Earth repair, and why humanity has been overlooking these pretty basic values.
This is followed by a video introduction to the video segment - what the subject is about, and why it's being shared. The video is presented by a young energetic presenter.
After playing the segment, a deeper discussion follows. This might look at the challenges and opportunities that may arise, and intertwine concepts like stewardship, innovation, precaution, governance, and the tensions that sometimes arise between self-interest and community wellbeing.

The climate sessions will be produced and made available in various languages, based upon demand. The users will be able to select between english and a preferred language. Even if english is the preferred language of a country or region, the presenters will be local to the country.

Online workshops and related reference materials will be given, providing a clear understanding of the information and the presentations format.

Blue Sky, Facebook (closed group), Instagram and TikTok will be connected to the platform to encourage youth participation, feedback and cross pollination with other geographical and cultural groups

A common landing page will greet all groups from all regions. A log in would take a user group to a personalized sub-page outlining the 13 modules, videos, content breakdown and suggested points for discussion.

The following subjects are 'stand-alone' subjects, but together, create a foundation for understanding the real challenges and opportunities around navigating towards a sustainable future.
Although only SDG 13 refers to climate challenges directly, all 17 goals depend on a stable climate, where all humanity and all life can thrive.
In response to the SDG goals report, the Youth Education Sessions platform is designed to engage, inform and inspire young leaders and students from around the world.
The platform covers the fast-moving state of the climate, what's happening to address the crisis, and, most importantly, how young people can get directly involved.
Mainstreaming sustainable development and climate change into school curricula is part of national commitments in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement - the legally binding agreement signed by 195 nations in Paris in 2015
